OLD HUTTON, CUMBRIA - 1986-2007
(Client from 1986 to 2007) – The Bendrigg Trust is an Outdoor Centre which primarily provides residential & outdoor activities for disabled & disadvantaged young people. We have been involved from the early stages of the establishment of the centre. Steve Mason was site manager for the construction of the resource building built in 1986. The dining room extension was designed by Steve Mason in 1990 moving on to design the new office & entrance extension in the early 1990’s.
SRM were fully involved throughout the design & construction of the large specialist disabled entrance facility, dormitory & staff accommodation extension in the late 1990’s opened in 2000. More recently between 2004 & 2006, SRM were responsible for the concept & planning design stages of the new ‘Kinross Building’ sports facility at Bendrigg, which includes a climbing wall facility, sensory room, caving area & sports hall all designed for disabled users. The construction design & onsite phase of this development were taken on by Steve Mason’s previous employers ‘Harrison & Pitt Architects’ due to the large scale & cost of the project. The project was completed in 2007 & opened by Sir Chris Bonnington.
