Working Organic Farm, Farm shop & Cafe. Buildings range from Early 19th Century to Mid 20th Century– The main project was phased over approx 3 years, completing in 2009. Full service provided by SRM, through to inspection of works on site, completion & agreement of final account. The client ‘Low Sizergh Barn’ (farm tenants), run a very successful organic farm, award winning farm shop & cafe. The building is owned by The National Trust & due to the historic value of the buildings involved, all works were discussed with & approved by the National Trust Conservation Architect for the North West & an English Heritage committee in London.
The contract involved complete redesign & construction of an existing farm shop, cafe, kitchens, offices, toilets & shop stores including new disabled access & facilities. The project also included the installation of a new biomass wood chip boiler & reed bed sewage treatment system, to the whole farm complex. New build areas were constructed using the thermally efficient ‘Tradis’ timber frame construction, installed by Edenframe & clad in locally sourced timber cladding.
